Level 38 + Expectations

Have you seen where people refer to their age as a level? It cracks me up. So with that in mind, I recently hit level 38. It was great to hear from some people that I haven’t connected with in a while and it was great to go out to dinner (a couple days before).

But overall, it was a very normal, regular day. I don’t remember all the specifics but basically I got 3 people out of bed, ready for the day, and dropped off at their location. And then I worked. And then I facilitated nap time. And then I coached basketball at the elementary school. And I needed to have hard conversations, and change diapers, and think of others above myself.
I mean, it was a good day but there were moments where I felt like it should be more fun.

So if you’ve had a moment as an adult where things aren’t as fun as you’d like or you weren’t as celebrated on your birthday or anniversary or other big moment… same. And sometimes that solidarity does a lot, right? Especially in the midst of the social media era where everyone posts highlights and it’s easy to think, I bet her life is so glam. I’m just here to say, it’s probably not.

So here’s to loving our lives, even though the responsibilities far outweigh the glamorous ones.
